During 2011 Borough Artist Steve Field, from the Public Art Unit at Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, unveiled plans for a memorial sculpture to Round Oak Steel Works.
Brierley Hillness collaborated with Steve and supported his work through funding a reminiscence project to inspire the memorial design. An exhibition of memorabilia donated by local poeple about Round Oak was curated in Artspace.
Below are the preliminary designs he used to consult with local people, in particular with former workers of the steel works.
